Chlorogenic acid is a compound, known as an antioxidant, which slows the release of glucose into the bloodstream after a meal.

Chlorogenic acid inhibits the enzyme, glucose-6-phosphatase, that promotes the formation of glucose (sugar) in the liver. Hence, chlorogenic acid may be responsible for a reduced risk of glycemic disorders, like diabetes. It also has anti-obesity effects.
